Group classes and clinics are a great way to get a solid foundation of training while also socializing your dog with other dogs and their humans. Lectures are a good opportunity for you to learn about various dog-related topics while you are undistracted by your pup. Lectures can also be perfect for setting your dog up for success in learning how to be confident at home alone while you are continuing your dog education.

Testimonials

"I have taken two classes with Ashleigh and she is an exceptional teacher for both dogs and their people. Ashleigh is knowledgeable, kind, good-humored, and patient with both the dogs and the people."

"We started at The Dog Spot when my dog was about six months old. A rambunctious Labrador who loved to get into everything, he responded to Ashleigh's gentle guidance. I learned as much as he did and we worked with Ashleigh until he grew out of his rebellious "teens." The classes are a must for every dog owner, and I particularly liked the way Ashleigh makes it a family affair, so that all members of a family learn how to support and work positively with their dog - no matter its size or character."

"When we adopted a male Beagle-Coonhound mix in 2016, we went looking for obedience training classes. We found The Dog Spot through the Fluvanna County Parks and Recreation course offerings and enrolled our Cooper. We were extremely impressed with Ashleigh’s knowledge and patience with the dogs. Cooper did well and graduated from Ashleigh's Beginning Obedience class and since he really enjoyed the classes and was learning a lot, we enrolled him in Ashleigh’s Intermediate Obedience and Canine Good Citizen. We also enrolled Cooper in the Confidence Building class, which was his introduction to dog agility. He loves agility and now competes in beginning agility. We thank Ashleigh for making us comfortable with training and understanding that dogs really like to work for, and please their humans. This February we adopted a year-old female beagle, who tends to be shy and submissive. We were anxious to enroll Maggie in Ashleigh’s whole series of dog training classes, but the pandemic has impacted Maggie’s training schedule. We were finally able to enroll her in the fall and she blossomed and learned so much in Ashleigh’s Beginning Obedience and dog clinic. We can’t wait for the next opportunity to take Maggie to one of Ashleigh’s classes. Ashleigh is so caring and knowledgeable, and her classes are always fun, and we get a lot of tips on handling dogs. Dog training with Ashleigh has enhanced our relationship with our dogs. We are so grateful to know Ashleigh."

"Ashleigh Morris was essential in helping me train my dog and I will be forever grateful for her.  I first saw Ashleigh's name when I was looking for puppy training classes through the FCPR flier.  Being a first-time dog owner, I wanted to get my new puppy, Penny, off to a good start and had no idea where to begin.  I chose the class taught by Ashleigh because it was near my house and very reasonably priced.  We began when my puppy was about 8 weeks old.  I learned early that Ashleigh, the “trainer”, was really training me to train my puppy.  Her philosophy of benevolent leadership and positive reinforcement helped me to teach Penny to learn the basic commands and avoid unwanted behaviors such as jumping up on people and biting.  Penny and I took two group classes with Ashleigh and we had Ashleigh to our house once for a private session with our children.  Ashleigh stressed that you get as much out of training a puppy as you put into it, so we spent time each day working on commands.  Now, Penny is a happy, well-behaved, 3-year-old.  I highly recommend Ashleigh to anyone looking for puppy training, and the sooner, the better.  Ashleigh clearly has passion and a natural talent for dog training and she is patient with first-time dog owners. Our family is considering adding another dog to our family and if we do, we will again enroll in one of Ashleigh's classes.  I strongly recommend Ashleigh's obedience classes as early as possible.  It is a decision you will never regret."
